Too much stuff

For months I have been encouraging the girls to clear away and clean out. Unfortunately  I am not the best role model in that arena. So when a meltdown ensued at bedtime tonight I knew it was time to intervene.  I know that feeling of stuff closing in around you all too well.   I started to organize the drawers first, then noticed my tween had fallen asleep so I seized the opportunity.  Clothes outgrown, papers, boxes that were holding more clutter, for two hours I purged by the glow of a nightlight. I can't wait to see her surprise when she wakes up.  Tomorrow night....my room.

Hind sight, again and again

Someone once told me, If at first you don't succeed, stop doing THAT". Not sure how many mid-week dinners out it will take me to actually Learn that lesson. Like going out to dinner on a school night. Sounds like a great idea at first, bis actually a future battle disguised as a "break" Following a stressful meal with BD barks at the girls table manners ( still in progress and clearly not meeting expectations) we arrive home to realize the "I did my homework statement actually mean I wrote Huh? On my paper rather than make an effort and now it's much too late to expect a 7 yr old to concentrate on schoolwork. Duped again, I decide to postpone this battle until morning and focus on getting everyone to bed ( except BD who has already settled in with a good book). After the chorus of " Mommy come here" I flop on the couch too tired to do anything but mutter to myself, " stop doin that!" Just Before my eyes slam shut.

New Year.... 2 years later!

So many things I want to do differently this year. Blogging more than FB posts being one of them. We will see if I can keep it up this time. It has been two years since my last post so time will tell. Ski school has been pushed back a week or so due to lack of snow. Seems strange - but I am sure we will fill the time. Girls head back to school tomorrow and they are not too thrilled about it. For Sierra, it means not hanging out with her sister as much and for Summer, it will be back to Math homework which has been a struggle this year. I will strive to get a suitable routine in place that we can all live with. So it's back to reality for all of us!
