Day 1

I woke up today with an agenda -

  1. 1. start working on small movements in my right knee and leg,
  2. 2. find some apparatus (crutches, walker) to help give me some mobility
3.schedule an x-ray to further assess the damage.

1st milestone - my knee popped and bent as I was being helped out of bed to the bathroom it actually felt better and it released a bit so I could start to try and move it.

2nd milestone - I discovered I could use my stability ball an improvised mobility device to move through the house - bracing myself on the wall or counter as I go. It also served as support to start trying to move the knee a little bit at a time, by rolling slightly forward and side to side. Still unable to put any weight on it - but that will come later - still need xray before I try to push that far.

3rd milestone - with some coordination with friends managed to get myself to the Dr. for x-rays.

Girls were very helpful as I tried to get myself down the stairs and out of the house.

The Dr. confirmed nothing is broken, my ankle is sprained and my knee is still too swollen to assess what the real issue is. I will need an MRI to get more information and have been referred to an orthopedic Dr.

I'll call Day 1 a success since I met all three of my milestones for the day.
